The Aztecs decided to get as far away from the better than avg Seneca archers and set up on the opposite side of the table. Finally, the Inuit opted for a bit more open terrain though this put them in danger of ranged attacks from both sides. Turn 1 Unit Activation Dice (UAD), did not overly favor any one Fo...

Toklo: A Mythic Americas Inuit Journey Series

Image
Before reading "Emergence" you may want to read Toklo's preceding story "Savior" on the Mythic Americas site;  Mythic Earth - Short Stories #3 — Mythic Americas 2.0 Emergence Toklo’s destiny revealed Toklo stood where the ice and snow met the water’s edge the same way he had stood in this spot before. Except that now he was wet, soaked and sodden not just physically but deep into his Spirit. How long ago he had last stood here Toklo could not say. Time passed differently down beneath the waves. Toklo felt the cold but not how he did in his former life. Back then it was an elemental thing that made the simple task of existing difficult. The Inuit had learned long ago through eons of pervasive and debilitating cold how to thrive in the frigid barren lands of their ancestors. But now… The sub-freezing temperature was like an energy. The cold enveloped and invigorated him. He sensed, more than felt the sea water that blanketed him seep into his clothes and ...

Mythic Americas from A2Z; Of High Priests and Magic

Image
Tlalocan High Priest I'm kind of a smash mouth player. I generally choose Warlords that are combat oriented, tooled up to gallop, march quick-step, fly or teleport with their retinue right into the thick of things. See the nail, swing the hammer! But like all other Tlalocan High Priests in an Aztec Warband Ahuatl , (my High Priest) is anything BUT a lead from the front "Follow me Men!" type of Warlord. In general he is usually leading from the rear, or fortified flank protected by meat-shields of the Bound Dead variety. Ahuatl's stats are average to below as compared to other faction Warlords. Even his Command, stat is 8 while other Warlords are at a 9. He only gets a single attack in Hand to Hand and can buy a 2nd wound while other Force Warlords can buy up to a 3rd. Yes, he is equipped with a Macuahitl. For a single attack. If he has to swing it he's already in big trouble. And just to add insult to injury? Other Warlords can be mounted. Yup, move faster, get ...

Mythic Americas Aztecs from A2Z: AYAR!

Image
Aztecs A2Z PtIII A Y A R !!RUN!! That's what I did the first time I laid eyes upon this jumbled monstrosity! Straight to the shop to pick up what is to date my favorite mini (max of a mini really, Ayar = big) in the Mythic Americas' line. Not simply because it's a beautiful mess of peyote induced nightmare visions, in the best way possible. But also because it truly represents "Monstrosity" on the table. Choosing to include an Ayar in your Aztec Warband is very much not a haphazard choice for most players, present company excluded, I'm a fool for this model. The Ayar comes with some decision-making responsibilities. This menagerie of horror may fill both offensive and defensive roles on the battlefield. But how does he stack up against other monstrosities? Well... In straight up HtH combat the Ayar is near the bottom of the list when compared to his older sibling Quetzalcoatl and in fact to any of the other Monstrosities lumbering or winging or slithering the...
